How to do City Breaks on a Budget

From spa breaks to adventure packed holidays, city breaks are the perfect short get away that we all sometimes need to kick back from our everyday lives. This is especially true for December and January, where the stress of the hustle and bustle of Christmas can leave us wanting to go to the airport and get on the first flight to anywhere! The only problem is, a lot of us think of the expense and decide – what we think is responsibly – against going. Do not deny yourself this luxury anymore, as there are plenty of ways to make that break more affordable!

I’ve seen many of my friends go away to Germany for the best Christmas markets, to Paris for New Year’s, and (what makes me most jealous of all) New York for a Christmas spirit overload!

I’ve always thought that it would be too expensive for me to afford to go, and I always wondered how they could afford it! After looking into it recently so I could start saving to go, I actually realised that you can find some pretty amazing deals to suit your normal budget without leaving yourself struggling at any point!

It’s true, the likes of Paris’s prices are sky high for New Year’s, and of course then Valentine’s Day, because it is known to be romantic which means this any couple’s choice of destination. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t afford any of the city breaks that are on offer!

The key to beating the high priced city breaks is research and lots of tweaking of dates, and times of flights. This means that there is always a way that you can do the more expensive city breaks, for cheaper. If you go on websites such as holidaypirates.com, lowcostholidays.com and lastminute.com, they will show you the cheapest hotel and flight prices with trip advisor reviews so you can have a first-hand experience.

Holiday Pirates is a website where you have to be more flexible about when you are going to go on your city break, as the deals are often exclusive to particular dates. This means you may want to double check with work before you book if it’s going to be a last minute booking. This website finds the cheapest flights and hotels from all different websites for you, so you barely have to do anything!

Low Cost Holidays is your average holiday booking website, but with cheaper offers. Then there’s Last Minute, which does what it says in the name. It finds you last minute deals at unbeatable prices. In the past it has paid to book your city breaks last minute as you could often get a super affordable deal. These days that doesn’t seem to be the case as often, but Last Minute sticks by the idea of being able to book your get away for as soon as you want to go, but still within your budget!

I did a bit of shopping around to find some information on the cheapest cities to travel to at the moment, and here’s what I found:
